If You Can Choose Equality… Why Choose Inequality?

“It is a girl.” I think this sentence reflects either joy or a “burden”.

We know that the world is progressing, India is progressing, to be accurate, in terms of feminine rights and the movements are often successful… but there are still places where I think equality for both males and females is necessary.

“That is a MANLY job! You can’t do that!” I’m pretty sure that some women face this saying when they’re trying for a job which is considered “manly”. For example if a lady wants to become a firefighter, she might get told that she wouldn’t be able to do it since the industry is dominated by males. No doubt women are doing absolutely amazing in the job but I don’t like the fact that they have to hear something that demotivates them. Why has our society distributed the jobs into categories “men” and “women”?

Household chores are something which are considered “feminine” and “soft” work, but here’s the thing, household chores are anything but “feminine” and “soft”. Girls are often raised to “take care of the family and kids” while boys are raised to be “strong, masculine and the one who gives support to the family.” Why? In my eyes household chores are something everyone should be able to do, and by everyone I mean everyone. Regardless of their gender. And as a matter of fact, teaching boys to be masculine and strong, only weakens their mental health which I don’t think will help in “financially supporting the family.” And teaching girls to be “gentle, soft and feminine” only leads them to believe that they need a man in order to survive, which also, I don’t think is correct.

At the end of the day, if we want to see the world as lively, joyful and amazing, we need to treat everyone the same way. Everyone in a good way. We need to treat women with kindness and we need to treat men with kindness. If we succeed to break these gender barriers, then with just an explosion of colors and equality, Earth will be the most beautiful place to live in.
